2011 Adventures in Oahu

I love greenery, I love long walks on the beach! Oahu is the perfect Island for me:)

Kailua Beach, how do I describe thee.

The vastness of your soft, sometimes velvet sand that embraces my toes like a big hug. The beauty of your white capped waves that are in constant motion, bringing joy with every surge.
The colors of the ocean salt water, that change with every cloud that blows. The colors change, the colors blend, making artwork every second. Vibrant and royal, soft and seductive. All the hues of blue with added greens mixed with sand as it sweeps into land.

I never used to enjoy 'walking' very much, you know, "hey honey, let's go for a walk". No!
However... since we have moved here to Kailua, that has changed! I still don't go on every walk Jim goes on, but I have increased my walking ritual by one thousand percent. Hey, I just saw the word 'sand' in thousand - "oh thou sand, how do I love thee" hehe... oh well, random fun. I'm not going to edit it out, not today anyways.

2011OahuFun3.jpg"I Love Kailua" yes I do, along with many many other people that live here. Every year the town puts on a festival to celebrate itself! They have arts and craft booths (which I did not do, considering we had just moved), there were a great selection of 'ono' food vendors, and just a bunch of fun all around! Some of the artists have small businesses in town, there is wonderful talent here.

I kept my button that says "I Love Kailua 2011".

2011OahuFun25.jpg'Thursday Night Farmers Market'

We have such a great time going to the local farmers market every Thursday night. Riley, Jim and I walk over there every week and purchase our vegetables for the week. For about $24 we fill up two of our 'shopping bags' that we bring with five Papaya, five Zucchini (I grew up calling them Italian Squash), red, orange and yellow Peppers, two Avocado, Onions (love the ones that are very small and sweet), Green Beans, Chinese Parsley (umm, it's Cilantro, I use it for Mexican flavor), Basil. Good deal, yeah?

Then we go to the Bread vendor - Ono! (means delicious!) They have about 50 different items they bake from Squaw Bread, Sourdough Bread, Nut Bread, Almond Croissants, to Snacks like Macadamia Nut Puffs.  They have samples of everything - hehe.

Then there's the Food Vendors that are cooking up a feast.  Our favorite snack to eat there is Deep Fried Zucchini with sprinkles of Parmesan Cheese and a Dill dipping sauce - be still my heart!

Not pau! Much more to come!

Growth means change and change involves risk,
stepping from the known to the unknown.
